Karen Siale Ellett Scholarship
This scholarship has been set up in memory of Karen Siale Ellett, who was a 2016 TAP graduate. A gifted actress, glass artist and creator, Karen was much loved by her class and the whole school. Sadly, she died in 2018 and is much missed by us all.
Of Niuean and Palangi heritage, she came to TAP at 41 to follow her dream of becoming a professional actress. After leaving TAP Karen went on to perform in Julius Caesar at The Pop Up Globe, As You Like It in the Summer Shakespeare and in various short films including a Lady-6 video. She was also involved in a number of other Auckland productions both on and off the stage.
Karen was an extraordinarily generous soul and a terrific ensemble member and it is with great love and admiration that we name this scholarship after her.
The Scholarship.
This bi-annual scholarship is made available through the generosity of various TAP supporters, graduates and tutors to enable a deserving, and talented, recipient to participate in our one year full-time course when they otherwise might not be able to.
The TAP Artistic Board may award this as a 'full fees paid' scholarship or decide to split it between two people.
Preference will be given to actors who:
- can demonstrate they have the talent, professionalism and drive to fulfill the requirements of the course.
- can prove they are unable to afford the course costs.
- come from a Maori/Pasifika background, although any Person of Colour is encouraged to apply.
